Copper Bird/ Systems Integration Applications

  • A custom test stand was built to simulate the electrical power generating system on a new helicopter. The stand will simultaneously spin all five of the helicopter’s generators allowing the customer to test all of the aircraft hydraulic and electrical systems before the first helicopter takes flight. The system will later be used for troubleshooting.
  • The test stand has five high-speed, direct drive AC motors, two independent oil supplies, and sophisticated data acquisition and control. Designed with space restrictions in mind, the stand comes apart to fit through small doors at the customer’s facility.
  • A Generator Development Lab System was recently developed for a customer requiring five variations of our popular K938 Test Stand. This custom system included three 500 HP (standard design) stands, one 750 HP stand, and one 1,500 HP test stand with a dual pad 30,000 RPM gearbox, capable of both manual and fully automated operation.
